Breckinridge Legacy Foundation Receives $4.1 Million Gift of Golf Course and Surrounding Land, Announces Plans for Community-Centered Development
Morganfield, KY — The Breckinridge Legacy Foundation is a new nonprofit dedicated to serving the people of Union County. We are excited to announce the transformational donation from Billy Gough of Breckinridge Golf Course and its surrounding land, collectively valued at $4.1 million, marking a major milestone in the Foundation’s mission to promote sustainable growth, recreation, and community enrichment in Union County.
The generous gift includes an 18-hole golf course, clubhouse facilities, and significant acreage designated for future development. The Foundation wants to revitalize the golf course, construct a new multi-use activity center adjacent to the course, and thoughtfully develop portions of the surrounding land for residential housing.
The Foundation also intends to create youth clinics, senior leagues, and adaptive golf programs, ensuring the course serves as an inclusive recreational resource for the entire community.
Thoughtful Residential Development
In addition to recreational improvements, the Foundation will begin the strategic development of the surrounding land for residential housing. We will build 90 lots of x to x acres around the golf course, creating a new, quality, and affordable community in Union County. Plans call for a thoughtfully designed neighborhood that balances green space, walkability, and architectural character.
Revenue generated through residential development will directly support the Foundation’s charitable mission, helping to fund long-term maintenance of the golf course and activity center, as well as additional community initiatives.
